The 2022 Toyota GR 86 that will soon be available at Yokem Toyota continues a great tradition of rear-wheel-drive performance sedans that includes the Toyota 86 and the Scion FR-S before that. The GR 86 is the second generation of the Toyota 86. It arrives with a slightly updated named and has been completely redesigned with a new engine and a more modern interior style. Toyota has opted for just two trim levels for its sport coupe: a base GR 86 and an up-level GR 86 Premium. Perhaps the biggest complaint about the outgoing model is that it did not have enough horsepower for the class it occupied, and Toyota has rectified this with a horizontally opposed four-cylinder that doles out 228 horses.

The GR 86 has a 101.2-inch wheelbase and a 4.9-inch minimum ground clearance. The overall length of the vehicle is 166.7 inches—or about 14 feet. Compare that to the outgoing model, which managed just 205 hp and 156 lb.-ft. A six-speed manual transmission is standard, but Toyota also offers the option of a six-speed automatic transmission. Track testing by third parties has not occurred yet, but you can expect zero to 60 miles per hour in under 6.2 seconds.

Toyota has upgraded the central infotainment center so that it now features an 8.0-inch color HD touchscreen.
