2021 Toyota Tacoma vs 2020 Toyota Tacoma in Shreveport LA
Tagged as a truck that manifests as “the epic made possible,” the 2021 Tacoma is one of Toyota’s most legendary trucks. It remains steadfast in its affordability, off-road capability, and sheer handsomeness. One quick look at the truck itself in 2021 will reveal a host of changes to the model, but it remains mechanically in line with last year’s model. Yokem Toyota happily welcomes the new Tacoma to our dealership by giving you a full comparison of the 2021 Toyota Tacoma vs 2020 Toyota Tacoma in Shreveport. Serving Shreveport Bossier City Texarkana customers with deals on this new truck is our second mission.

The Nightshade Edition and Trail Special Edition are the two biggest items to check out in this year’s new upgrade. The biggest change to this year’s Nightshade Edition is that it takes its blueprint from the Limited Edition (unlike in 2020). There’s a huge new color trio to check out, too: Midnight Black Metallic and Windchill Pearl, to name just two. A new paint color comes to the TRD Pro as well. Lunar Rock is going to let you leave the earth behind in favor of a more spacey trip. The standard Tacoma is built for economy. It features a deck rail system and projector beam headlamps, leaving you some room left over to add exterior packages that suit your style. The TRD Pro rocks 16-inch TRD Pro black alloy wheels and a front skid plate, as well as new cabin configurations. If you look at the huge cab of the TRD Pro, you’ll see seating for 5 people who are going to feel like they’re treasured guests of the driver. There’s a ton of room in the TRD Pro. If you want bigger tire options, maybe look at the Limited trim. It comes standard with 18-inch polished alloy wheels.
The new Tacoma gets a more spacious cabin in 2021. You’ll find that seating for 5 is possible, and we’re not talking about everyone technically fits into the cabin. The cabin size of the new Tacoma has been really generously doled out. This truck offers a mountain of new cabin space. Trims as early as the SR5 feature seating for 5 people, dual zone climate control on the V6 model, and 4-way power-adjustable driver’s seat (or 10-way if you grab the V6 engine). Cameras become a bigger part of the cabin in 2021 as well. They have a Panoramic View Monitor with camera in the TRD Sport, while the TRD Pro gets a front grille with a camera. If you’re someone who appreciates the finer things, the Limited and TRD Off-Road get leather-trimmed steering wheels and leather-trimmed heated seats (standard on the Limited, optional on the TRD Off-road). Touchscreen options range from 7-inch to 8-inch options.
Toyota Tacoma Mechanical specs
Three bold engine choices are on the 2021 Tacoma, and they take a page out of the playbook in 2020, but manage to ramp things up to a more off-road friendly level. The more practical and inexpensive 159 horsepower 2.7L 4-cylinder is standard on early trims. And then two variations of a 3.5L V6 gives you 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque for a greater blast of power. A manual 6-speed or automatic 6-speed is available as well. Ground clearance this year grows to 9.4 inches, and you’ve also got plenty of mechanical tech to choose from, like Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control.
Safety – 2021 Toyota Tacoma dealer
The Star Safety system returns for 2021, but they’ve really revamped Toyota Safety Sense on the new 2021 model. For example, you get tools like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Automatic High Beams, and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control much earlier in the lineup this year. You won’t have to spend money on a higher trim if you don’t want to this year. The new, improved Blind Spot Monitor is incorporated with Rear Cross Traffic Alert for a dual utility that keeps you and your Tacoma riders safer. Rear Parking Assist Sonar is standard on the Limited this year and gives you an edge when you’re having to park your Tacoma in a tight spot. For a safer drive for off-roaders, Toyota gives you features like TRD Off-road Tuned Suspension with famous Bilstein shocks. By creating a strong exterior and chassis, Toyota’s driver-assist features are able to work in conjunction with those to give you an incredibly precise control over your Tacoma.
