2020 Toyota Camry vs 2020 Ford Fusion in Shreveport LA

Vehicle Overview

The Camry needs no introduction. It is Toyota’s most popular vehicle in the U.S. and has helped define and shape the American sedan market since it was introduced in 1982. The current Camry is just three years in to a generation, but the 2020 Toyota Camry still brings with it some rather big changes. These include an all-wheel drive option that has not been available since 1991! A fun way to showcase what makes the Camry special is to compare it to the competition, such as the 2020 Ford Fusion, which has recently arrived at local Ford dealers serving Shreveport Bossier City Louisiana. Let’s see how these two sedans stack up in our 2020 Toyota Camry vs 2020 Ford Fusion comparison.

Shreveport LA - 2020 Toyota Camry's Overview

Exterior – 2020 Toyota Camry

Both vehicles are four-door sedans that embrace the classic sedan appeal but include modern flourishes that really make the exterior aesthetic pop. The Camry is built on a slightly smaller wheelbase by about an inch but is actually longer overall. The Camry is not as tall or as wide, and both vehicles offer similar clearance from the ground. Both models feature 16-inch wheels standard. Toyota does offer more options, including a sport-tuned suspension and a Nightshade appearance package.

Interior – 2020 Toyota Camry in Shreveport LA

The new Camry available at Yokem Toyota can seat up to five as can the 2020 Ford Fusion. The Fusion offers a tad more passenger volume overall, but this does not make a significant practical difference. The numbers are close, and the Camry even manages a bit more headroom for rear passengers. Interior options for the Camry include a power-adjustable driver’s seat, additional USB ports, automatic climate control, heated seating, leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Ford offers similar options for the most part but lacks Wi-Fi hotspot and does not offer a leather upgrade.

Mechanical – Camry specs in Shreveport

While the Camry and Fusion are front-wheel drive standard, both Toyota and Ford now offer all-wheel drive. In both cases, all-wheel drive is not available on the base trim. The Camry features an eight-speed automatic transmission and is available with two distinct engines. The base engine is a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that is rated for 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Compare this to the base powertrain of the Fusion, which features a six-speed automatic and a 2.5-liter four-cylinder that makes 173 hp and 174 lb.-ft. The optional engine for the Camry is available on the XLE and XSE trims and is a 2.5-liter V6 that is rated for 301 hp and 267 lb.-ft. The more powerful engine offered by Ford is a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder rated for 240 hp and 270 lb.-ft. Ford also offers a fuel-efficient-oriented 1.5-liter EcoBoost with automatic engine start/stop that is rated for 181 hp and 185 lb.-ft.

Technology – Toyota Camry specs in Shreveport LA

The standard tech that each automaker offers is perhaps one of the more intriguing aspects of this 2020 Toyota Camry vs 2020 Ford Fusion comparison. The Camry has always been at the head of the class when it comes to standard tech. This has not always been the case with the Fusion, but Ford has made great strides with recent releases in order to be more competitive. The Toyota infotainment setup features a 7-inch color HD touchscreen, integration for Android and Apple devices, Wi-Fi hotspot, a USB port and an audio system with six speakers. It also includes Toyota Safety Sense, which adds collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, blind-spot monitoring and other driver assists. Driver assistance is where Ford has made the greatest strides with the Fusion, which includes safety tech comparable to the Camry. The base infotainment system is not as nice, however. Ford only includes a 4.2-inch central display and the basic Sync system rather than the more sophisticated Sync 3 implementation.
